HepAD38 is a human, liver-derived HepG2 derivative engineered for tetracycline-regulated (inducible) expression of the hepatitis B virus genome. It is used for antiviral compound screening and for production of encapsidated HBV DNA when expression is induced.
- Inducibly expresses the hepatitis B virus genome under tetracycline control.
- Suitable for antiviral screening and HBV DNA production.
- Adherent, epithelial-like cells derived from human liver.
- Maintain in DMEM/F12 with 10% fetal bovine serum; include tetracycline to repress expression.
- Typical vial contains approximately 4.5 x 10^6 cells; store in vapor-phase liquid nitrogen.
- Biosafety level 2 handling is recommended.
- Culture at 37°C in 95% air, 5% CO2.

This allows production of ProLabel-tagged, hygromycin B-resistant target cells of interest for use in cytotoxicity assays involving detection of cell lysis. This product uses EFC technology. The retroparticles mix can be used to transduce target cells with a ProLabel-tagged housekeeping gene. Target cell death in a cytotoxicity assay will release ProLabel to the media, where EA contained in the detection reagent will produce EFC signal. These retroparticles ship as 4 vials of cryopreserved retroparticles. It is derived from dimyristoyl glycerol (DMG) which behaves similar to phospholipids, namely in the way they associate with membranes.
